Managing a museum with a museum account

How can I manage a museum on WhichMuseum?

By creating a user account and managing a museum with that account, your account will automatically be converted into a museum account free of charge. How this can easily be done is described here.

What is a museum account?

A museum account is kind of an 'improved' version of a user account. A user account is converted into a museum account if a museum on WhichMuseum is managed with that user account.

Why is there already information about my museum on WhichMuseum before I've created a museum account?

The WhichMusuem team has already gathered as much information as possible to make the website as comprehensive as possible for the visitors and museums themselves.

How do I log in to my museum account?

On desktop computers & tablets:

  • Click ‘Log in’.
  • Click 'Log in with Facebook', 'Log in with Google', or enter your email address and password and click the 'Log in' button.

How do I change the email address, name, display name, country etc. on my museum account?

On desktop computers & tablets:

  • Be sure to be logged in.
  • Hover over or click on your (account) name at the top of the site.
  • Click 'Edit profile'.
  • Click on the specific field and fill in your alterations.
  • Click 'Save'. 

How do I change the password on my museum account?

On desktop computers & tablets:

  • Be sure to be logged in.
  • Hover over or click on your (account) name at the top of the site.
  • Click on 'Edit profile'.
  • Click on 'Change password'.
  • Fill in the passwords and press 'Save'.

How do I change the profile image/avatar of my musuem account?

On desktop computers & tablets:

  • Be sure to be logged in.
  • Hover over or click on your (account) name at the top of the site.
  • Click 'Edit profile'
  • Click on 'Change avatar'.
  • Click on the file button and navigate to the image on your computer and press 'Open'.
  • Click 'Save'. 

How can I add multiple logins to my museum account?

It is not possible to link multiple logins to a museum (account).

How can I transfer my museum account to someone else?

You cannot transfer a museum account. If another user wants to manage the museum, you should first stop managing the museum. The other person should then submit a request to manage the museum.

How can I manage a museum that is already being managed?

If you think that you are the one that is eligible to manage the museum, you can inform us by contacting us. Please note: only representatives of museums can manage a museum on WhichMuseum.

How can I manage multiple (sub) museums or locations?

After you manage your first museum and obtained a museum account, you can submit requests for other museums (or locations). 

How can I stop managing a museum on WhichMuseum?

At the moment it is only possible to stop managing a museum on WhichMuseum by contacting us. We will then remove your account or restore it to a user account.
